The king of mangoes. GI Certified Ratnagiri Alphonso — tree-ripened, never chemically ripened, packed with saffron-like fragrance and unmatched sweetness. Arriving April 2025.
Ratnagiri Hapus season is short (April–June). Last year, our stock sold out in 3 weeks. Register your number and we will call you as soon as harvesting begins.
The Alphonso (हापूस) is the king of mangoes — rich, non-fibrous, intensely fragrant with a saffron-like aroma that fills the room. Grown only in the coastal Konkan belt of Maharashtra, particularly Ratnagiri and Devgad, it carries a Geographical Indication (GI) tag recognising its unique origin.
Our family tends to these mango trees with the same care as our cashew orchards. Tree-ripened Hapus has a texture and sweetness that is simply impossible to replicate with forced ripening.
Genuine Hapus comes only from the districts of Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, and Devgad in Maharashtra. The unique combination of laterite soil, sea breeze (खारी हवा), and monsoon pattern cannot be replicated anywhere else.
True Hapus is allowed to ripen naturally on the tree for 120–130 days. When it falls on its own, it is harvested. This patience creates the intense sweetness and deep fragrance that carbide-ripened mangoes can never match.
Authentic Ratnagiri Hapus has a deep saffron-yellow (केशरी) flesh, not the pale yellow of imitations. The fragrance alone — described as floral, honey-like, and intensely aromatic — distinguishes it from all other varieties.
Mango trees begin to bloom with panicles of small cream-white flowers (मोहोर). Each cluster can produce 1–4 mangoes. We carefully monitor and manage the flowering to ensure good fruit set without any chemical interventions.
Tiny mango fruits grow slowly over 3 months. During this time, the sea breeze and Konkan sunshine work their magic on the developing mangoes, building the unique sugar profile and aroma compounds found in Ratnagiri Hapus.
When the mango naturally separates from the stem or is at perfect maturity, we harvest by hand. Each mango is gently wrapped in dried leaves or newspaper to prevent bruising, and arranged in wooden crates for transport.
Harvested mangoes are graded (by size and ripeness), packed in wooden crates with ventilation holes, and dispatched within 24 hours. We never store in cold rooms — fresh from the tree, straight to your hands.
